For over 20 years our TOC-903 was the most advanced ATEX gas detector on the market, but all good things must come to an end. At IGD we’ve been providing gas safety services for more than a century, and if we’ve learnt one thing in that time, it’s that anything can be made detectably better. This is the TOC-903-X5 – a standalone detector approved for Zone 1 and 2 (Gas) environments that offers dual gas detecting capabilities in one compact housing. When it comes to keeping you and your personnel safe, the TOC-903-X5 brings a variety of useful new tools to the table. Let’s explore some of the features that have already cemented the TOC-903-X5 as the best in class.
Dual Gas Detection.
When operating in a dangerous and potentially explosive environment there’s a good chance that you’ll encounter more than one hazardous gas. The additional port is the first difference you’ll notice between the TOC-903-X5 and its predecessor. Our TOC-903-X5 provides you with the capacity to attach two of our plug-and-play smart sensors to monitor two different gases in the same space from one unit, simplifying the process and cutting costs.
Unparalleled Versatility.
Versatility is what sets the TOC-903-X5 apart from other ATEX gas detectors. It’s the best option for a vast range of use cases and the multitude of potential installation options enables it to shine in almost any role and environment. Each of our huge range of sensors presents the opportunity for a different bespoke setup but, broadly speaking, there are five ways that the TOC-903-X5 can fit into your system and provide the solutions you need:
1.
If you only require accurate, reliable detection for a single gas and you already have a system installed, then the standalone TOC-903-X5 and any one of our compatible plug-and-play sensors is all you will need.
2.
Adding one more sensor allows you to take advantage of the dual sensor capabilities by testing for two different gases from one point.
3.
The TOC-903-X5’s modular capabilities enable you to directly attach a sensor to the unit whilst running a remote sensor at another point. This is the easiest way of testing for two different gases that typically reside at two different levels.
4.
ATEX environments often require gas monitoring in places that would present serious dangers to personnel, like the inside of an electrolyser. When combined with any remote sensors from our TOC range, the TOC-903-X5 can be placed in a safe area and used as a transmitter for the additional TOC ATEX Gas Detectors. This enables you to remotely monitor two different gases at a distance of up to 1km from the source.
5.
The addition of IGD’s Sentinel+TM 2-Wire addressable system introduces a huge range of potential set-up options. It also equips you with comprehensive digital monitoring, at-a-glance status readings, digital readings, and simple calibration through the onboard Wi-Fi. Integrating our 2-Wire Addressable solution is the best option if you require multiple points of gas detection. Our TOC-635 PLUS offers increased installation flexibility and reduced cabling providing you with savings of up to 70% on installation costs. Find out more about our addressable systems here.
Non-Intrusive One-Person Calibration.
Our TOC-903-X5 ATEX gas detector comes in a protective housing to prevent it from becoming a potential point of ignition. However, this presents an issue: How do you adjust the calibration settings? The answer comes in the form of our Magnetic Wand. This works as a stylus allowing you to access the controls through the casing. With the Magnetic Wand, personnel can perform a one-person calibration in ATEX-zoned areas without hot works permits. The additional benefit of the Magnetic Wand is that only responsible persons can access the gas safety device. This ensures a greater degree of site safety.
At-a-Glance Status Checks.
When dealing with a gas leak speed is of the essence. We must take advantage of every means of alerting you to an issue but ATEX-certified environments are often hectic. Our At-a-Glance status indicator offers an immediate indication of the status of the environment and the LED indication system is bright enough to be visible even in dim and dusty conditions. The alert system is as intuitive as it could possibly be. A green smile means all is well, a red frown indicates a hazard, and an orange frown indicates a fault.
Plug-And-Play Sensors.
The TOC-903-X5 ATEX gas detector is compatible with our full range of TOC-102 smart sensors which enables it to monitor over 400 different gases. Our plug-and-play sensors are as easy to use as the name might suggest and each one comes with a built-in printed circuit board designed to work with the TOC-903-X5 and take care of the calibration that would otherwise have to be conducted on-site. Not only does this make initial installation far easier, but it also means that if the need arises to monitor for different gases, the sensors can easily be changed as needed. The plug-and-play sensors, like all our design features, are created with the sole purpose of reducing the potential for human error and keeping you safe.
Purpose-Built for the Harshest Environments.
While points of ignition are the biggest threat in an explosible atmosphere, many ATEX-certified spaces come with a whole host of other potential threats to your gas detection system. Fortunately, the TOC-903-X5 is equipped to deal with all of them. The TOC-903-X5 is certified to operate in both Zone 1 and Zone 2 for gas, and Zone 21 and Zone 22 for dust but it tackles extreme temperatures and humidity levels with the same ease.
It’s built to last and this makes the TOC-903-X5 the clear choice for a variety of applications including:
- Petrochemical sites
- Offshore and onshore platforms
- Chemical plants
- Oil and gas
- Water treatment facilities
Modular Flexibility.
We design our products to work for you and the best way of catering to our clients’ varying gas detection needs is by making our products as flexible as possible. Our TOC-903-X5 can be operated on our standalone 4-20mA, but the modular design means it can be combined with a vast array of our other sensors, transmitters and detectors. But the TOC-903-X5 wasn’t just designed with IGD’s Addressable 2-wire system in mind. The 5-port housing and smart sensors make it easy to slot the TOC-903-X5 into your current set-up and system.
IGD’s 10-year Warranty.
We believe in our products and their ability to stand the test of time and like all of our electronics, The TOC-903-X5 comes with IGD’s 10-year guarantee. With our decade of coverage and the backup of our support team, you can rest assured that your gas detector will keep you safer for longer.
